Meanwhile Anwar has a delightfully messed-up and eccentric girlfriend called Sketch who has a crush on gay Maxxie. Chris has to face his demons and Tony’s little sister Efy comes into her own.
My Journey, My Islam
Documentary by Kay Rasool
3 thumbs up
The veil conjures up controversy, with some women seeing it as an oppressive tool of the patriarchy while others claim it as a feminist symbol of liberating themselves from the male gaze. Kay Rasool examines the attitudes of Muslim women in Australia, Pakistan, India and England to the hijab, including her own relationship with her faith. An interesting documentary that offers no straightforward conclusions but is likely to encourage debate.

In 1924 Nathan Leopold and Richard A. Loeb, two wealthy students at the University of Chicago, murdered 14-year-old Bobby Franks and were sentenced to life imprisonment. Unrepentant, they claimed to be driven by a Nietzchan desire to commit the perfect crime. However they were foiled by Leopold leaving his glasses at the scene. This 1992 black and white film focuses on the homosexuality of the two men.

A powerful dramatisation by Brian de Palma of the circumstances surrounding the rape and murder of a teenage girl and the murder of her family by American soldiers at a US checkpoint in Iraq. Some people were outraged by its obvious anti-war ‘propaganda’ and the portrayal of US soldiers in a bad light, but it’s filmmakers such as De Palma who aren’t afraid of rocking the status quo that often bring the truth – no matter how unpalatable – to our consciousness.
GAME: Samba De Amigo
Samba! Yes, it’s time to get out your best Brazilian carnival outfits and shake your maracas to fun new Wii music-rhythm game, Samba De Amigo.
For any retro gamers out there, you’ll remember this originally on the SEGA Dreamcast and all the same fun and fast-paced action is back in this version. Your WiiMotes clip into the maracashaped
controllers and you shake and swing along to some classic Latin tunes and modern artists such as Rihanna and J-Lo.
The controls work well, the difficulty level is fair and the replay value is high on this fun party game. It’s definitely worth getting your friends around for a few tequilas and some Samba De Amigo.
