I am in Sydney
at the moment checking out possible likely areas for Candy Bar Sydney. Many say
Newtown, which is a great area but it’s
important Candy Bar
is more central where it has a high profile and is more
accessible to women from all over the city as well as national and
international visitors to Sydney.
Meanwhile I am spending lots of time chatting to women in as many parts of the
community I can get access and asking them to go fill out the questionnaire at www.thecandybar.co.uk
to tell me how they want it, so when we do open it will be right for all!
If people look on the various websites and Myspace sites
they will see that both Candy Bar venues in the UK (London and Brighton) offer
something for everyone: a nice comfortable stylish bar for after work and early
evening drinks, and various entertainment each night, including student
nights, karaoke, pole dancing, RnB, house, live bands and cabaret. Candy Bar
is a great place to showcase all kinds of talent and gives a space for women's
star quality to shine!
It'll be open seven days a week so women can meet more
regularly in an environment where it’s easy to chat. It will act as a
pre-club for late-night girls’ clubs, host spaces at various events around
the city, offer a lesbian-run place for sports groups and networking
associations, plus with different drinking times and areas to hang in and
different entertainment every night Candy Bar will provide
something for all women and their male friends through the week.
Also, Renee Schembri from Bitch is working with
me to bring Candy Bar to Sydney, and after the success of last year’s
Bitch tour to Candy Bar in UK that showcased the talents of each other’s DJs and
so on, we will be repeating that this year with more parties together at the
Soho and Brighton Pride events, just as both Bitch and Candy Bar are
hosting the Official Mardi Gras Girls Recovery party this month in
Sydney.
