Let me ask you this; if 40 is the new 30 and 30 is the new 20, does that mean that people in their 20s are really in their teens? Does it mean that we shouldn’t be allowed in clubs till we’re in our 30s? Does it mean no one has the ovaries to claim their age?
Not that it’s our fault with media and advertising carrying on the way it does but I’m confused. I don’t know how old I’m meant to be anymore; maybe I should just lie and be done with it – you know, the old ‘I’m in my early 30s’, translation being ‘I’m 42.’ Ok I’m exaggerating but seriously though, what is it with the obsession with youth? Why do we all want to be younger than we are? How many creams, lotions, potions, pills and treatments can a market supply and a person buy? There are so many anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, anti-frown, anti-smile, anti-individuality creams around that we should all just wear Homer Simpson masks and be done with it.
We all know that these creams are a load of rubbish, it’s been proven over and over: there is no such thing as anti-ageing, unless you invest in cryogenics. Let’s face it, people age, that’s what we do. Everything ages: animals get old, plants get old and I’m praying the revisited high-waisted jeans fad gets old real fast too. Yet regardless of this fact we still spend millions on the promise of a restored youth. Plastic surgery has become the norm and I’m not sure this is a good thing; I mean cat woman is going blind, botox has taken away our expressions, and face lifts are just downright freaky, I mean how old IS Joan Rivers?
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not against looking good, I’m all for it. But I reject the notion that as I age, my value as a hot, sexy and fascinating woman declines. I’m 35, I am fabulous and not at all interested in being in my 20s again. Been there done that. I cherish the extra years of life I’ve had, the good and bad. Isn’t experience what makes us human?
So come on girls, or should I say women, you’re hot, desirable and totally rock. So let’s cut the crap, celebrate our ages, our lives and spend some of our anti-aging cream money on a new CD, some handcuffs or even The L word season 4.
you go girl im 38, i dont want em in there 20s thats to young for me. 35 up is my list, we dont all look like sporty models in the movies its what your heart see's is what you take. Most people are looking at your money intake or are materialistic, and wether you have an high level in education before they will look twice. well i see it they will grow old and alone. exspectation is an old school of being straight, when the man had high exspectations on women. till we burnt the bra, then there was change. do we have to burn the bra is the question
