Our intrepid virtual reporter Cherrie Nitely samples more Sapphic delights.
I’ve spent a bit of time in Second Life recently veering away from the usual sex dens and lesbian make-out joints to see just what the thinking lesbian can get up to in here. I found an interesting area known as the Gay and Lesbian Resource Centre that offers newcomers to Second Life some advice about places to go, people to meet and shops to scour when you’re gay in Second Life. They’ll hook you up with some of the most up-to-date news for lesbians in the virtual world and of course they’re a friendly bunch also. Sadly, the disappointing aspect of the resource centre is that it’s very quiet in there, so it seems that the best place to mingle is still in those damn bars that always seem to call me back.
The newest bar I have found recently is the ethereal The Sapphic Lounge. Stepping into that bar is like entering a fairy garden – literally. It sparkles from top to toe and if you’re musically inclined you can bang a few drums or tinkle a few ivories when you’re in there. By far the most magical part of The Sapphic Lounge is walking in through a waterfall to enter the establishment. Now, I don’t know if this is just a personal preference or if we all share the same desires, but I have always fancied a little Blue Lagoon action in my life.
The Sapphic Lounge definitely delivers that and is a fun alternative to all that The L Word world has to offer in Second Life at the moment, so support it by visiting and donating generously.
If you’re looking to do a little gender-bending in Second Life, or perhaps just fancy embracing that butch side, why not check out Butch Togs for Tomboys. I stumbled across this quaint little shop when looking for a friend of mine and I wasn’t disappointed by what I found. I picked up some fantastic ‘DYKE’ t-shirts and a lovely rainbow-coloured necklace Not only that, but I purchased a rather realistic ... well let’s just say I now have a ‘lady garden’ which I tend to regularly. Yes, it’s amazing what you can find in Second Life. Why not come over and join me for a romantic picnic some day?
